ThispageinformsaboutWTW’sproceedingwithrespecttoECdirective2002/96/EConWasteElectricalandElectronicEquipment(WEEE),implementedintoGermanlawbythe“GesetzüberdasInverkehrbringen,dieRücknahmeunddieumweltverträglicheEntsorgungvonElektro-undElektronikgeräten(Elektro-undElektronikgerätegesetz–ElektroG)“.
ThestatementsmadebelowonthedisposalofnolongerusedWTWinstrumentsapplybindinglyonlyforcustomersinsideGermany.CustomersinotherECcountriesshouldcontacttheirlocaldistributorand/ortheirlocalauthoritiesforcorrespondentinformation.

OneprimarygoaloftheWEEEdirectiveistominimisethedisposalofWEEEasunsortedmunicipalwasteandtoachieveahighlevelofseparatecollectionandrecoveryofWEEE.
AsacompanycommittedtotheprotectionoftheenvironmentWTWsupportsthisgoalexpressly.
WEEEmaycontainmaterialsthatareharmfultotheenvironmentandthehumanhealthandshouldbynomeansbedisposedoftogetherwiththemunicipalwaste.

ProperdisposalofWTWinstrumentstakenfinallyoutofuse
CanWEEEoriginatingfromWTWbehandedovertothecommunalcollectionpointsforWEEE?
Theanswerisexpresslynoforthefollowingreason:
WTWinstrumentsaredesignedforprofessionaluseandaccordinglytheyhavebeenapprovedasb2b(businesstobusiness)productsbythecompetentgermanauthorityStiftungEAR(Elektro-AltgeräteRegister),whereWTWisregisteredunderWEEE-Reg.-Nr.35575700.Theb2bclassifiactionimpliesthatWTWdoesnothavetopickupWEEEatthecommunalcollectionpointsastheElektroGdemandsitfromtheproducersofconsumerEEE,andconsequentlyourproductsareexcludedfromthispathofdisposal.

InsteadweofferourdomesticcustomerstotakebacknolongerusedWTWinstrumentsproducedfrom2006onandproperlydisposethemfreeofcharge.
ThiscomplieswiththeannouncementofEARthattheproducer’sobligationofdisposalinthecaseofb2bbecomeseffectiveforinstrumentssuppliedafter23.03.2006.
Theyearofproductioncanbeidentifiedfromthefirsttwofiguresoftheserialnumberlabeledontheinstrument,e.g.06…for2006.
Instrumentsfordisposalmustbesentinwithprepaidpostageandmarkedwith"ZURENTSORGUNG".
